Ivoclar BPS dentures

A complete denture designed as a system—not made by guesswork.

BPS stands for Biofunctional Prosthetic System: Ivoclar’s structured clinical and laboratory workflow for creating customised complete dentures with careful attention to fit, function and natural appearance.

What is BPS?

A coordinated method from the first impression to the final review.

A denture is more than a set of artificial teeth. Its comfort and usefulness depend on how the base relates to the gums, how the borders move with the lips and cheeks, where the teeth are positioned and how the upper and lower teeth meet.

The BPS workflow connects these decisions through a defined series of clinical and laboratory stages. Ivoclar describes the result as a highly aesthetic, customised and functional removable denture.

BPS does not remove the biological limits of a removable denture. Lower-jaw anatomy, saliva, muscle control and ridge resorption still influence retention. The benefit is a disciplined process that gives each of these factors proper attention.

The BPS difference

Quality comes from the whole workflow—not only the acrylic.

01

Functional records

Impressions and jaw records are made to reflect the way your oral tissues and jaws function, rather than relying only on a static mould.

02

Individualised teeth

Tooth form, shade, arrangement and lip support are selected for the person—not simply copied from a standard template.

03

Try-in control

The proposed appearance, speech and bite are reviewed before the denture is permanently processed.

04

Clinical–laboratory system

The dentist and technician follow connected steps, helping important records transfer consistently through fabrication.

Who may benefit?

Primarily designed for complete denture patients.

Common indications

  • All teeth are missing in the upper jaw, lower jaw or both
  • An existing complete denture is worn, loose or repeatedly repaired
  • The bite has collapsed or the teeth no longer meet evenly
  • Appearance, facial support, speech or chewing is unsatisfactory
  • A carefully planned removable alternative to implants is preferred

Important expectations

  • BPS dentures remain removable appliances
  • Retention varies with anatomy—especially in the lower jaw
  • An adaptation period and review appointments are normal
  • Dentures need daily cleaning and should be removed as advised
  • Implant assistance may be discussed when anatomy limits stability

Seven connected stages

Nothing is finalised before you see the proposed smile.

The BPS workflow builds information step by step. Each appointment informs the next, with a try-in before the denture is completed.

  1. 01

    Assessment & preliminary records

We listen to what is not working with your present denture and assess the gums, ridges, jaw relationship, facial support, speech and smile.

  2. 02

    Functional impressions

The tissues are recorded carefully to create a denture base shaped around your individual anatomy and functional borders.

  3. 03

    Jaw registration

The relationship between the upper and lower jaws is recorded to guide tooth position, bite and the intended facial support.

  4. 04

    Individual tooth selection & set-up

Tooth shape, size and shade are selected for the face, age and preferences. The teeth are arranged for appearance, speech and function.

  5. 05

    Try-in before completion

You can preview the proposed teeth and bite in wax. Appearance, tooth display, speech and jaw relationship can be refined before processing.

  6. 06

    Finalisation & fitting

The denture is processed, finished and fitted. Pressure areas, retention, stability and the bite are checked carefully.

  7. 07

    Review & protection

Adjustment visits are part of adapting to a new denture. Regular reviews help us monitor fit, oral tissues, hygiene and wear.

After fitting

A quality denture still needs adaptation and maintenance.

New dentures may initially feel unfamiliar, affect speech or create local pressure areas. Review visits allow these areas and the bite to be adjusted as your mouth adapts.

Because the gums and jawbone continue to change over time, even a well-made denture may eventually require relining, repair or replacement. Regular reviews help identify these changes early.
